Doesn't matter what camera. It's the lens that's important.

It would be nice if you filled out your profile so we know where you are on the planet. It helps us answer any questions you might have in the future.

Depends what you mean by 'better'.What's most important to you?

Megapixels?
Features?
Image quality?
Battery life?
Low light performance?

If you don't know, or are not interested in learning/discovering, then you would be better off getting a decent point and shoot for less £/$/€/¥/₩/that's all the currency symbols I can find on my iphone.

Give us a better idea of what you want to use it for. And like Jack says - the lens will make a far bigger difference to your photos than the body.

The lens will be a huge factor. I'd take a D7100 with a 70-200 over my D600 with a kit lens for portraits. I know, people might not agree, but that's my opinion. Lenses make a HUGE difference. And the biggest difference, is the photographer and their vision.

The question should not be which is better for landscape/portrait but are you capable of taking a good landscape/portrait as its the user that makes the photo the camera just records it.
