Nikon discontinuing the D3000 and D5000

That is surprising about the D5k. I would think they would have dropped the price on it to what the D3k was and discontinue that one. The D3100 has made both less desirable but one could see the D5k the entry level camera to beat. It would seem they are not going to stop production of the D90 though in spite of the D7k. HMM interesting...

The D5000 has done me well. Sad to see it go off the market=/
The D5000 is still a great camera as are all Nikon products. My D5000 wont be retired but it is sad it will disappear off the market so soon after intro. The problem is that technology is advancing much faster than the production lines and markets can handle. They just finsih introducing a new model but the engineers have the next one on the line already. Like computers we will see the base model rise to where the top model is today and new top models will amaze us with perfomance and features. Eventually I expect the photos to take themselves. Then where will we be?

If you were to try and keep up with the latest Nikon models you would got crazy…lol.
It is true they have become like computers, or ipods. Just when you think you have the best and latest one, a new one comes out, better then the last one…lol.
I have a D200 & a D80 both out of production. I have a SB 800 & a SB 600, both out of production?? All these products work great and as many have stated on this forum “Its not the camera, but rather the person behind it”. So my advice (just advice) hang on to your camera, when you feel its time to up grade, then do so. But not just for the sake of having the next great thing…lol. Just my 2 cents J.

i love my nickon d3000 and would not change it for the world! i just hope i might be able to get a macro lense for it!! :(

I also have the D3000 and love it. The last SLR camera that I had owned was a film camera and I have had no problems with it. Many people complain about the D3000 but I feel that it is because it is the least expensive SLR that they make. It takes great pictures!!!

The D7000 is not a direct replacement of the D90, so the D90 will be here for a while. The D7000 is placed between the D90 and D300s.

Yes I have herd this as well. It's actually quite disappointing considering I am an owner of the D3000. It is a great camera, It should not be discontinued!.
