The lens itself is great, I have been using it for more than 2 years approx. It is very sharp and fast focusing, and above all light weight. On D500, I felt I got my D300 back with noiseless rendition. I need some more outings to get the ultimate output from this combo.

I attach a shot taken recently with the combo. Please have a full-screen view. You comments are valuable.

Regards,

Krish.

I fail to understand why some users cannot get their heads around such a little thing as the crop factor on DX.

Well, there are "rules"of learning and one of those is the "Law of Primacy", which deals with what people initially learn about something. It is one of the strongest factors in learning. That being said, a lot of people who are new to photography in the digital age have been wrongly informed about lenses' focal length on different format (DX/FX, etc.) cameras. I have no idea how many times that I've heard sales and marketing people make statements that are flat-out wrong.

Hopefully, with time and repeated correct instruction, they will come to properly understand crop factors and focal lengths.

On a similar note, I picked up a Photography magazine the other day because it had a D500 review in it, the misinformation that was in there was making my blood boil, he kept going on with crap like " because this is a crop sensor camera, when you put on a FX lens like the 300f4 it is now a 420mm lens at no extra cost". Similar statements were all through the review. People read this stuff, and because its in a respected magazine, think that its true.

Guys, I checked the DX factor and it's working. Sorry for the botheration, although we had some fruitful interactions.
