Nikon d3100 F- - -

Hi guys, wanted to ask if anybody have had a problem with their camera being in “ F- - -“ for the aperture. I recently got my hands on a nikon d3100, i tried changing lens but the problem still remains. Any suggestions?

When installing the lens there is no need to hold the release button in, just turn the lens until it clicks. Some in the past have posted about being able to turn it too far if the button is held in for installation. Which lens are you trying to use, AF-S?

Hi, im trying to use the nikon kit lens af-s 18-55mm , ive swapped the lens with my nikon af-s 50-200mm and it still shows the same thing, i thought it might be a lens problem so I installed the lens on my d5200 and it was working without any problem, im afraid that this could be a body issue on my d3100

My D7000 had a way of erroring like that during long exposures at night, in the dark. The battery ran low with the mirror up. I would have to actually push the shutter release after changing the battery to correct the error. Ruined a couple of astrophotography nights until I worked that out.
