Will this lense autofocus on any recent Nikon body, including bodies that don't have a built in auto focus motor. Not sure if this latest updated lense has a built in auto focus motor in the lense itself to use on just about any body.

It does - The AF-S designation means it has the silent wave motor in the lens. The older 80-400 doesn't and needs a motor in the camera body.

I purchased this lense yesterday and shot with it today for a few hours, lighting fast focus on my D7200. Great carry around lense, no issues at all.
