I purchased this lense about 3 weeks ago and have been out shooting 3 times with it. This morning when I took off the lense cap I noticed a spot (dust/dirt) not sure just about in the centre inside the lense. Is this normal for this type of lense after limited use. Not sure if it will effect images at some point. Should this be sent back to Nikon for cleaning or is ignore it.

I think most zooms are prone to getting dust into them,it shouldn't hurt image quality but depending on size ect it may be worth complaining,there was a stage where some black particles where coming off inside but i think that has been sorted.

Mine had plenty of dust inside and never hurt or showed on the photos especially since f/7.1 is its sweet spot I never saw the need to go smaller. Take a photo of the sky at f/7.1 and see if you can see the dust, if not no worries, if so then maybe take it in for a clean.
