Nikon 24 - 70 F2.8 Handling

Hi All,

Ive just received my brand new 24-70 F2.8, its absolutely awesome! The one thing thats a bit worrying is that the zoom ring seems slight stiff (But still smooth), it doesnt turn as easily as my 70 - 200 or 70 - 300, and when it turns / autofocuses, it sounds like a very very light grinding noise.... Is this normal for this lens or is it possibly a faulty one?

I also bought mine new last year and it is smooth and no grinding noise, I would ask for a new copy.

Grinding noise is never good. For the $$ is should be perfect.

Is it something common with the 24-70 though? Read on amazon that a couple of other people had similar issues....
