Nikon 24-120 S Lens

I just received my Nikon 24-120mm f/4 S Lens in June. My nephew passed away shortly thereafter and I was not able to test the lens. At his funeral in August I used the lens on my Z8 and noticed that when Im zoomed out to 24mm, the lens hood blackens out the corners of the photo. It is obviously the hood because you can tell by the outline of the hood.
I just spoke with B&H and they are unable to do anything for me. :(
Please help.

It kind of sounds like the wrong lens hood was included. New or used item?

From Nikon, it should be marked HB-102 on the hood

On the Z cameras many of the lens corrections are preformed in camera you may want to be sure the lens and camera software are up to date.

I just checked my 24-120 f/4 S on my Z8 with HB-102 hood on. Absolutely zero hood interference at 24mm, not even a slight shade. However I was successful to shade the 4 corners by adding a thicker B+W C-POL over a thin clear lens protection filter. Now experimenting further I was able to black out the upper right corner and a little bit of the lower left corner by having the hood about 1/4" before engaging where you would turn it more to lock into position. The only way I could block all 4 corners and the sides, was to have the hood clocked 90 degrees off. But in this position the hood is not even engaged in the recesses and would fall off if pointed down. But in level position stays on. But it blocks the entire sides not just the corners.

Personally, would just ditch the hood and use my hand if i had a problem, i have lots of lenses all with the correct hood but very rarely use them.
