Nikon 200-500mm Case?

There seems to be a lot of apples compaired to oranges here. And this seems to be a common "practice" on photography forums. The Nikon 200-500 is not the Sigma/Tamron 150-600 - and to that point the lens hoods are significantly different in size, making any comparison null & void - so why even mention it?

The Nikon hood on the widest end is quite a bit larger then the Tamron's. So it's very fair to say that a case that fits the Tamron properly, will not fit the Nikon.

I know folks are just trying to help, but it's really not helpful.

Lowepro Lens Case Model LP36307 is the case that I use for my Nikon 200-500 f/5.6 and it fits well, although it is snug. I store the lens in it with the hood reversed and I lock the zoom to 200. I also have a large 6" Arca Swiss foot on the tripod mount for my gimbal head. I turn the foot to one of the corners on the flat side.

It works well for me and is snug. Without the Arca plate it fits a little better, but I prefer to leave the plate mounted. It was around $40 dollars on Amazon.

Some additional confirmation from the Amazon Q and A section.

Question:
can it fit my nikon 200-500 f5.6 lens with hood fitted on lens but reverse way. if not, then is there a better lens hardcase. let me know.

Answer:
Yes, Fits well, with room to spare. I own the lens and this case. There is enough additional room to carry filters. Its a great case - It is not a 'hard-case' - but it is a sturdy and very well-padded and well-constructed soft case. No worries - I think you'll be as pleased with it as I am.

Yes most definitely. The Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 with the lens hood reversed fits in this lens case perfectly. I own this lens and case.

I'm not sure. I bought it for a Tamron 150 to 600 mm and the is plenty of room. This case is not small. It would make a great lunch box! Best suggestion is to compare Your lens to the Tamron. My guess is you should be fine.

I cannot speak to the Nixon lens but I use this case for my Tamron 150-600mm with the lens hood reversed. It fits properly.

That is is the same case I use, and it has held both the Nikon 200-500 and the Tamron 150-600 just fine (obviously, not at the exact same time :) ). Both lenses have a 95mm filter size, and I did t notice any drastic difference in lens hood design, but it sounds like maybe the Nikon is wider and we lucked out with the LowePro.
