This lens tends to have more fringing at higher apertures. Luckily it is easily fixable. The interesting thing with this lens (and all the great macros) is you will find imperfections in your subject, things which otherwise may have given you the impression that it was the lens at fault.
In other words, with your example, is it the lens or just reflected light off the extreme edges of the letters which are imperfect themselves. Things look allot different under your new microscope
