Day 316
Wow. I must say that I feel very uninspired these days. The 365, with only 40 days to go, is really taking its tow on me. Anyways, here's the photo from yesterday. Now I just have to find one for today as well...

Absolutely gorgeous and great lighting.
I hear you with the lack of motivation as we get closer to the end of the 365. Keep plodding away mate - nearly there.
I used to run marathons and there is a saying amongst runners that the race begins at the 35 km mark - that's about where we are in this and it is a matter of keeping going.

Yeah. I think that's a good analogy.
Going towards winter here, photo opportunities outside are scarce for me, and I pretty much have covered the entire interior of my home, so it's a struggle to find some new stuff to photograph. But no way I'm quitting. Having gone this far I'm WAY too stubborn to not go through with it ;)

And thanks a lot, Lawrence :)
Lighting is bounced directional flash as always with me :) Having practised that all year is one of the things I can safely say that I will bring with me from this 365. It's a great and very easy technique if you ask me :)

Well in that case I am asking.
Looks like you used it in the last batch too so let me in on your secret please.
The whole set-up :)

The picture above is the whole set up ;)
Take a hot shoe flash and attach a piece of black foam on it. The trick is to bounce the flash on a wall while making sure that no direct light from the flash reaches the subject. In practice this gives you a light source coming from the place where you have pointed the flash, without getting the flat direct light from the flash itself.
Watch this video where it is explained a lot better

By the way, for macro I use my super duper DIY flash diffuser, which works way better for that application :)

Thank you guys :)
There really isn't any tricks played with the focus or anything. Just a bump in the fabric. But I'm glad you like it :)
