(Newbie) Auto ZOOM lens'

I recently used a Canon d3 mark ii it auto zoomed with the lens that was on it, is that a possibility with the D5100 and how do I know the lens has that capability as the AF is not autozoom....

Welcome..If the lens is a Nikon for it to auto focus with the D5100 the lens has to be an AF-S...HSM with Sigma lens

Ummmmmm... I'm not really sure it does.

Zoom relates to the focal length/image magnification while auto-focus is a mechanism to bring an image into correct focus. There is really no correlation between those two things. I'm not familiar with the concept of "Auto Zoom" on DSLR cameras.

A Canon D3?? What is that when it's out of the box? Eos 3D is not supposed to (rumored) come out until the Fall. Do you perhaps mean a 30D??
