New to Nikon DSLR from an old Pentax film guy.

Hello all. Been shooting since I was a tike, as Dad was big into photography and taught me the basics of aperture and lighting plus bought my first 35mm, a Canonette rangefinder as well as lesson in videography using a 3 turret Kodak brownie 8mm. I do love gear because I'm an obsessive gearhead with everything I do but realized a long time ago that it's the eye, not the camera, that does the creative stuff.

Sounds a lot like me. Dad was into photography and gave me my first camera, an Argus C4 rangefinder. He never got into the mechanics of photography, but I do remember spending time watching him develop B&W. I went on to love B&W and set up a home darkroom. Digital has changed everything for me. For the better.

I find digital makes experimenting much easier. I may fill a card with yuck and find one gem in there. Then it's time to format the card and try again. Yes that probably seems like way to much gear as I also have around 20 lenses as well. I'm a gear junkie and probably suffer from some sort of OCD as they're all lined up according to sensor size and focal length. I'm odd that way.
