To maintain that kind of aperture throughout on a full size sensor will at least double the price, I am thinking - maybe triple it. As I mentioned in another post, if the IQ is there this could be the ultimate DX walkaround zoom.

I'm surprised more of our Dx shooters here don't seem interested in this. If I were still shooting Dx, I think it might be #1 on my list! A 1.8 zoom is amazing.

If a D400 is released I will be tempted. If not, I am seriously considering moving to m4/3. The D800 is overkill for me and the D7100 has no interest.

Yes Bill! Most zooms have been limited to 2.8 or higher for Dx and Fx sensors. You had to go with a prime to get 1.8.

A Dx sensor really needs more than 2.8 to reproduce the same bokeh/isolation as 2.8 on Fx.
