New Nikon 300 f2.8 patent

The patent isnt the interesting part,whats interesting is the fact the elements can be adjusted after assembly,this could lead to the fine tuning of the lens after assembly and hopefully making it very sharp and reducing sample variation.

Some fishy going on. The 300 f/2.8 one of Nikon's sharpest lens. Are the changing the method of manufacture to require these changes?

Nothing fishy is going here. What IS fishy, however, is the fact that this should've been done long time ago, with ALL lenses, to avoid the problem called "back/front focus" or "focus being off". I bet, many manufacturers have had this solution ready on their shelves, like 10 years ago but the cunning barman is always looking for a chance to put a spoon of salt into the customer's glass of wine to keep him thirsty... It is not a deception, no Sir, it's a busyness...
