Hi everyone,

My name is Max, and I’m really happy to join the Nikonites community. I’ve been interested in photography for a few years now, especially landscape and street photography. I’m still learning and trying to improve my composition and editing skills. I recently started experimenting more with manual settings instead of auto mode, and it has been a great learning experience so far.

I joined this forum because I want to learn from experienced Nikon users. I’d really appreciate any advice on improving sharpness and color tones in outdoor shots. Sometimes my images look good on camera but a bit flat on my laptop screen. Do you have any suggestions for better post-processing workflow or camera settings?

Apart from photography, I also run a small website related to retro gaming and PlayStation resources:

I know it’s a different niche, but I’ve always been passionate about classic technology—whether it’s cameras or gaming consoles. I enjoy understanding how older systems work and preserving that knowledge. In a way, both photography and retro gaming are about capturing and preserving memories.

Looking forward to learning from you all and being part of the discussions here. Any beginner tips for getting the best out of a Nikon camera would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks 😊

Welcome aboard Max, good to have more members join in. What camera do you use as this might help with the advice you require for better settings to improve your shots.

Welcome Max! - Great to have you - As others have indicated, tell us a little more.

As far as post processing, there are lots of free options geared toward a retro style (low automation do your own thing type) do you save your work as jpg or RAW (does not matter but suggestions can change)?

Have fun on the site!

Welcome Max. Photography is a hobby you may always be learning about and never quite feel like you have mastered. And that is perfectly normal.
