Welcome, Carolyn. If you could fill out the rest of your profile, such as where you're from and what other gear you have, that would be great. Thanks. :) Enjoy Nikonites. And remember, if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask......but read your manual first! :)

Totally new to photography? Iif so,, start with Auto mode, and focus on composition, holding the camera steady, make a conscious effort to support the camera well, hold breath, snap, More shots are ruined due to unnessary haste, hence the slogan,,
haste makes waste.

And the D7000 is the perfect starter camera because you can start full auto, and work up to full manual, and not outgrow the camera.

Welcome Carolyn! You are going to love your Nikon D7000! Be sure and read the manual. It's boring but it will greatly assist you in learning your new camera and it's functions. There are also several great books out there to expand on what the manual left off. Mastering the Nikon D7000 is a great place to begin after you have read the manual. What lens/lenses did your new Nikon come with?

Hi and Welcome to Nikonites Carolyn,

Check out Digitutor | D7000 . But the manual should always be close to you as well. You can download an electronic version to your smart phone if you have one.

Enjoy your Nikon!
