NEF Help!

D610, Windows 7 Professional...can't view my RAW files in Windows Photo Gallery or Viewer. I've downloaded the latest codec from Nikon but still nothing. I've swapped SD cards and taken more test shots as well.
I had to update the codec for my D7100 as well when I purchased it and all went well, but not for my D610.
Anyone know the solution?

Maybe...I hope not. I've updated the Windows 7 Nikon codecs in the past to accommodate both my old D70 and D7100 without issue. Just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem. I can get by importing the raw files into Lightroom or viewing in Bridge I guess...just a bummer having to open up another program just to view them.

Thanks, that's the first thing I did. The raw files I took with my D7100 still open using Windows.
Anyone out there using Windows 10? Keep getting the offer to download it, just at a crossroads here whether or not I want to take it that far. Have an awful lot of photo files to backup to my external drive before taking that leap.
