NEF file transfer

Hello everyone, I am new to the group and in need of some help. I used Nikon Transfer to transfer 295 images from a D7100 camera into a Windows 7x64 PC. Photoshop CS5 does not recognize the RAW files from the D7100 but I can use Adobe DNG software to convert the NEF files to DNG and that works great....unless, I use Nikon Transfer to bring the files in from the camera, which I did today. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may be able to get Photoshop to read the NEF files? Apparently, Nikon Transfer has altered the file format in some way that Adobe cannot read. Sure would appreciate any suggestions.

You probably need to update your copy of PS. Adobe Camera Raw gets updated frequently to handle new cameras. I shoot with the D7100 and use Nikon Transfer to transfer my files and Photoshop for editing. I never convert to DNG
