Need Your Eggs-pert Opinion

Shot this yesterday for my 365. I'm wondering which of these presentations you prefer? I'm waffling (breakfast pun) between the 4x5 and 1x1 for a wall hanging. A friend of mine has a gallery that works with a lot of home remodeling folks (he also does custom furniture, so it's a nice combination) and they've asked me to show some of my work there as they believe it would sell well in that vein.

I'm guessing I could offer both/all (I'm thinking the square in a gallery wrap), but wanted to know if you have a particular way you like your egg?

I think the setup needs to be redone and the egg straightened relative to the forks and horizon -- if you align the egg with this one, the forks will look off. It's a nice image, but this sort of 'simple' setup needs to be spot on.

The egg was extracted into a separate layer, rotated .8 degrees left and reinserted. Nothing changed with the forks or the horizon. On a crop grid everything lines up perfectly straight. So while I understand what you're saying about the reshoot, I simply ask, is this better?

I think, strictly from a design perspective, the shot is excellent... I think the aspect ratio that gets selected would be relative to the space/wall and frame where it's going to be placed... I'd probably frame it in all 3 aspect ratios, and let the customer select which one fits the space... Over-all, if it were me, I'd probably start with the last one though... I don't know why... I'd steal it if was a RAW file... :D

The second is better, but I would add two more degrees -- there is an optical illusion going on with the right side shadow and the background that makes it look off even when the guide lines say it isn't.

Now, optical illusions are something I don't mind. I have photos hanging in my home that drive friends with ADD nuts because they can never make it look straight on a wall. :)

I must admit I like 5:4. I've started using it on the D800 as it works better for some landscapes.
