wud, congrats on the new Sigma, I'm sure you'll love it!

Sorry to the OP for the continued hijack....... Pat you might also consider the Tokina 12-24 AT-X Pro f4, good deals on B&H for that lens as well. Just got mine yesterday...... it's a whole new world at 12mm :D This thing is tack sharp.

Thank you! I wil add that to my list... Probably end up with a dedicated thread later when I am closer to actual spending the money!! :)

Well as long as hijacking is allowed. . . LOL. . . I love my Sigma 10-20mm. I've had it for almost 6 years (through a D70s and a D300) and it has been rock solid. I created this pano last night of 5 images I captured a couple weeks ago in Lisbon.

Thanks Eduard!! Nice to have a fellow nikonite endorse a product...

Wow the new 80-400VR is around $2700.00 "big bucks" for a variable aperture lens. I might get one if Nikon drops the price by $900.00

Some questions - can I use filters with this lens?? It looks like the glass are kind of spherical. Should it be those filters which comes with a filterholder? And is it possible to remove the lens cap?

Its not here yet! And no tracking number, I'm dying slowly...

Wauw. Its very sharp, this lens.

This is a 100% crop, nothing done with the picture. I focused just a tiny bit wrong (flower at the back) - its pretty hard to see, looking through a wide lens!

It looks like a good lense, but truthfully, I think you should have saved your money for a few months and buy a better lense with lower stops.

If I should get anything else, I think I would look for a prime, but there isn't a lot to choose between - and the Nikon 14mm 2.8 cost 2330$.

So far I more or less only used the zoom on 12mm. And mostly used it for pictures with some sort of landscape and for that f/4.5 seems quite okay - but I would love if you could post some pictures so I can see what could be done with a aperture at 2.8.

Curious what you consider a "better" lens and why??? What is it's cost?? I like lower f/stops also but as I will be using mine for an outdoors scenic and cityscape lens, the need is not there for the extra cost. (In my opimnion for me..)

Thanks,
