DSC_0183.jpgThis is not retouched or cropped. My lens has a stripped out threaded hole and had to rest on top of car. It was a D5200 with a 400mm f/3.5 and stacked tcs (1.4 and 2x)

It is soft. When I tap a new threaded hole and can use a tripod I should be in business. I don't think my eyesight is good enough to really focus in tight.

Hey, you almost filled the frame. I hand hold for the moon, but don't get quite as large on the frame as that. Nice capture, do like Scott says and see what ya get.

I can hand hold this lens in daylight but with low shutter speeds a 6 pound lens gets a little shaky at night. I played with contrast but it didn't help. I've got to put more effort into focusing.

You could try live view for focusing. Use the + button to zoom in on the screen for detailed manual focusing.
