A number of years ago many people got together and complained about the bare butt and there was a movement to have paints made for him. That was squashed pretty fast. INteresting history behind this statue. I remember climbing up to the top when I was a kid. Glad there is an elevator now.

I have three boys. 7-9-11 all involved with cub/boy scouts. For the 4th of July we planned a camping trip to DC to tour the museums and watch the fireworks. Anyways there's a memorial representing the Boyscouts. It consisted of a man, woman and a scout. The man statue had a bare ass. Which totally contradicts the whole leadership thing on boy safety. We all had a good laugh about it.
 
I like the way the light is hitting that moon.


It was right at sunset so the light was nice. WE were going to shoot the sunset from the observation deck but I failed to check to see where the sunset was coming from. It was down the ridge of the mountain which is over three TV stations and assorted tall towers. Earlier in the year the sun sets over the city and it is a really nice view then.
