monitors and large TV's

I would like to get a large TV or monitor to display digital photos in my living room. I am disappointed with digital projectors. Any general advice on the different technologies available in large TV's and/or monitors?

I can't advise on what to get but we do that here all the time
its a great way to view photos and my flat mate and I critique each other all the time.

HDMI output from my Macbook into the flatscreen works great. You're going to want an HDMI signal from whatever you send to it if you wnat a great image. If you can get that out of your computer any good TV will work. I'm assuming you want to do this occasionally and not just flash a constant slideshow, right?

What you use to drive it will be a factor and how often you want to display it. I think Fred's suggestion works well. I have AppleTV and I like the display feature. Pretty much any device (laptop, computer, PlayStation, XBox) will push the images. Just make sure the devices you use have the same connector (VGA, HDMI, etc.)

Even my Uverse provider allows me to login to my Flickr account and display slideshows straight from that to my TV.
