Week 9 - Looking Up

I had all kinds of ideas for what I might do for this category, but this one presented itself and really surprised me when I looked up. It's really windy today and as I walked through the park I kept hearing this little whistling sound. I kept thinking it must be the wind blowing through the metal roofing of the pavilion, but it was a little strange and off. That caused me to start looking around... and then I looked up. Almost looking like someone had decorated the tree were probably ~40 of these birds with their absolutely beautiful colors. It so floored me to see them all up there that this picture had to be my Looking Up entry. I will remember these guys and see if they come back for me to shoot another night.

Week 10 - Entrance

In a few short minutes, as this day ticks away, my daughter will make her Entrance into being a young woman as she turns 18. I am extremely proud of her as she accomplished so many things for me to be proud of. And even though she hates this photograph, I love it as it is the last photograph I will ever take of my little girl. Happy Birthday Mikala.

Great picture along with a fathers sentiments.

I made the decision at an early age i was not father material, too protective, too selfish,my first wife felt the same she would rather have had a new lens for her Hassleblad, the current Mrs Wilkiinson had already got a grown up family (i say grown up in a very lose way:D) so i was let of the hook there.

Week 11 Architecture

Loved the design built into the side of this building. Gave such interesting looks based on how you pointed the camera at it relative to the light hitting the different angles. With that said, here are three images.

not very healthy for your camera or health. Colors are made with corn starch which is ok when eaten not when inhaled.
i wonder what the pre-race instructions/waiver where regarded this.

HA HA! I pulled off the impossible - one shot one kill! Ok, no one was actually killed, but I am that excited. The above shot was only of three of the four children. The problem was capturing the littlest one. She is a little under 2 and completely wiggly and undirectable. However, I decided to go for the impossible and see if I could get a shot of her like the brother and sisters. My plan, feed her, get her in a really good mood, then rush her out to the studio. My wife would place her on the stool while holding her at arms length when I said go. I still have the lighting set up so all I had to do was catch that moment she gave me a profile while she was looking at my wife making faces and sounds that would hold her attention. In one swift placement of the child, a goofy sound/face from my wife, and there was the shot - I pulled the trigger and captured her profile. The mom is so excited because all four of her children are now in the shot.

Having pulled this off, I think I will go outside and capture lightning in a bottle.
