Mine accepts only Nikon OEM EN-EL15 batteries. (and, a gratuitous jumping spider pic)

Since I have 9 OEM batteries I decided to do some data gathering and send it on to Thom Hogan since he's compiling this stuff. So, why not share the specifics here as well.

I've got six Li-ion01 and three Li-ion20 batteries, all in various states of charge. I took each one and put it, as is, into the D500, D750 and D800, and read the Battery Info from the Setup menu. Unless the battery was fully charged it would consistently read lower on the D500 than on the other bodies, regardless of which type. The only difference seems to be that the Li-ion20's to not vary to the same degree.

Shaded cells are the newer batteries. As you can see, I could get down to a 35% charge as read in the D750/D800 and still get a reading in the D500. But on the older batteries, one that read 58% in the D750/D800 registered as Dead in the D500. That's a bit troubling to me. I don't know if the difference in reading has to do with the fact that the D500 actually draws more power and therefore the difference in percentage is "accurate" since it will drain the battery faster (i.e. the percentage shown is relative to that camera's draw and not on the actual charge of the battery), or if there's something "broken" in the firmware. But the fact that I can put a 1/2 full battery from one camera into the D500 if its battery goes dead in the field is a problem.

I'm wondering how long it will take to get to the bottom of this one?
