They couldn't get my helicopter school for 2 yrs and I would have had to scrape and paint boats until I had an open slot. I then signed up to the army. I passed all the requirements to fly helicopters in their warrant officer training program.  The only problem was I had poor eye sight. Just enough to fail the test. The Marines said I could advance to all the schools the Navy had without enlisting for a long period and I didn't have to wear a Navy outfit and look like a prisoner. So, for 4 years I did 3 years of avionics schooling on A6 and F14 aircraft and one tour in the Med. I did miss the opportunity of a life time. There was one set of orders to repair the presidents helicopters and I missed out on a flip of the coin. I would have stayed a full term for that.</p></blockquote><p></p>
