Hi Michael,

I understand you are shooting in situ but have you considered spending just a little bit more time with your staging/styling ?

Your last image has a busy/noisy background and the view from straight on doesn't give the loaf much dimension.

Perhaps something like this ?

Simply consider and clean up what is going to be in the background of the shot and shoot from a higher (thirty to forty five degree) angle. Similar to how the loaf would normally be viewed.

Or a staged shot ?

I posted one post but don't know where - This was the first shot from my Michael's Homemade Framer's Bread - Still warm. This shot should be posted before the bread cut. Cos that time it was warm

IMO the angle is too high..

And I don't care for the red background, something more neutral wouldn't draw your eye away from the subject matter.

Wow! You have an uncanny ability to produce "mouth-watering" images, Michael...I really like your colorful backgrounds, especially this one...the bokeh with tree and lights really makes it look "natural", and to me adds to the overall interest of the image.

And, I agree with Pete...the red background of bread image really makes it "pop"! Great choice.

the only problem i have with the bread shots are, they are on the computer screen and not on a plate in front of me.
