A couple of my faculty have MeFoto tripods. They have nothing but good things to say about them and recommend them to students regularly.Any member here got one/ had one?
Looking for an honest review of this tripod/monopod before I put one on my "wish-list"
Many thanks in advance
Box in top corner gave me tooooo many pages to look at, maybe I was searching wrong, but I got 17 pages to look through.Pssst - that box in the far upper right corner will tell you all you need to know if you use it.
will check this out.For me, this link and those contained within, and within that, tell you all I have to say about it. http://nikonites.com/other-photography-equipment/14485-thank-you-mefoto.html
Thanks very much for this... I will be looking at this todayA couple of my faculty have MeFoto tripods. They have nothing but good things to say about them and recommend them to students regularly.
I got this MeFoto rip off for less than $100 and I love it. It's not as rock-solid stable as my Manfrotto 055XPROB but it's also a fraction of the weight and handles my D750 and Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 with ease. I was shocked at how well built it is but neither can you go wrong with anything from MeFoto.
....
Oh, hopefully they will see this and give me some feedback. Cheers and thanks for the reply@RocketCowboy had one, I think and sold it to @Bill16 They can probably give some additional data since the previous thread mentioned.

17 posts I could cope with, but 17 PAGES of results that is more of an issue! I read your link, so thanks for that... I am not perfect, nor being lazy, I am trying to do research the best I can before I spend some of my hard earned cash on something that I may use daily, or may sit in the back of a cupboard.... I'm sorry but if you didnt like my question, you didnt NEED to answer and point out the feature that I had already used.My apologies, but wading through 17 posts is called research. Asking folks who've answered the question at least once already to do it again just for you is called something else.
Reading the blurb on their website, it comes as carbon fibre or aluminium... which did you go for and why (if you dont mind sharing)I have one that I purchased a few months ago. Very sturdy and well built. It was certainly worth the $$$.
I don't expect that I'll have to replace it anytime soon.
Thanks... Thats where I am at the moment... my current tripod is a cheap/rickety thing that I dont really trust on this heavy camera, so I need to invest once and wisely on something new.I bought the black aluminum. It was difficult to justify the extra $150 for a tripod that doesn't get very heavy use.
The aluminum was $200, and the carbon fibre was $350.
Are you looking for, shall we say, One Tripod to Rule Them All? Because if that's the role this purchase needs to fill I'm not 100% certain I'd suggest something as light and compact as the MeFoto. Make no mistake: I think the MeFoto is an excellent light-weight, compact tripod. Full stop. The issue is... It's a lightweight, compact tripod. If you need something that's going to be put to hard use with heavy gear, and serve as your ONLY tripod, I might suggest you consider something heavier like a Manfrotto MT055XPRO3. I use my MeFoto knockoff tripod a great deal but I use it indoors pretty much exclusively. Outdoors I take the heavier, but sturdier and steadier, Manfrotto.Thanks... Like most things photographic, it's a bit of a juggling act to find the right balance of size, weight and overall sturdiness/steadiness and I don't mean to muddy the water... It's just I fully appreciate truly good tripods do not come cheap and making the right decision can be difficult. Here's hoping I'm helping more than I'm hindering!

I hear what you're saying and, as a parting shot I'll pass along some words of wisdom as they were told to me:Thanks for your reply!
I'm guessing the best tripod is like the best gear bag... it doesnt really exist.
I only want one tripod, which is why this one seemed to be ideal as I also was considering a monopod... and this is both!
I want a tripod I can travel with (both on plane journeys and on car journeys (and foot!) Most of my shooting is outdoors so your comment about outdoors has bothered me a little, so I will go to a camera shop and see if they have a manfrotto to look at too.
I know I may seem all-over-the-map on this but as most places dont stock much gear its hard to know what something ls like without talking to people, finding out what the strengths and weaknesses of something are.
