Wow, Marilynne, I love scrolling through your photos. You are blessed to live where it is warm and all of the birds are out and available to shoot. Your photos make me want to take a vacation to Florida.

Yes, I'm blessed to live in a great area for photography. Thanks for spending your time scrolling through my thread Wendy.

Right now we're all full up with snow birds and tourists due to the really cold winter up north, but you're welcome to visit FL any time.

Looks like a stalk of some sort. Possibly from a maize (corn) plant or sugar cane. What was previously growing in that field?

We were thinking the same thing, but it looked like it had writing on it and at one point I thought I saw a red end cap. We figured the glistening was from the saliva.

Nice to be able to follow a chick like this day to day

Yes it is. Now, if all the people would go home and make room for me. This is what I have to face whenever we go there. On the left just in front of the gazebo is where most of the nesting is taking place.

Can't wait until the morning of March 19, park is closed except for me and 14 other photographers for a photography workshop!!

I think sometimes we forget that the crowds we hate are the reason we have the facilities/areas we love.
When I worked for the University of Alabama many years ago we always said "This would be a nice place to work if it weren't for all the !#$% students."
