Riding around the area.

Someone raked all the debris

My grandparents had a house around Hallendale--your house photos remind me of the area in which they lived. Single story homes with palm trees (how I wish palm trees would grow here in the NE part of the country! ;)).

And I am always fascinated by the variety of what I'd call exotic birds that you post! I am definitely a warm weather person--sandy beaches, palm trees--and look forward to seeing your daily photos!

Thanks Hark. Hallendale is about 45 - 60 minutes south of us. Moved here 36 years ago and never regretted the move.

In keeping up with my variety of shots.

Chris trying out the teeter hang up. He's not sure if we're keeping it yet.

Is that a 24-hour record? Even during a tropical storm, that's an extremely high amount of rainfall.

WM

I think it was less than 24 hours. It rained on and off Thursday during the day. Really started to come down after supper (around 6pm) and it was still pouring when I got up at 5am Friday morning. It stopped around 6am.

When I was in elementary school down there (Palm Springs) we would skim board the streets after storms. We'd also take turns towing the skim boards behind a bike with a rope attached. I did that several times until one afternoon I went through too many shorts and my mom put an end to my participation for good. Those were the days.

My parents had friends in Delray Beach and we used to visit them often. I can't remember which street they lived on though. They had a really big house with lots of character (built in the 1930's) on a big corner lot; the kind of house that was frequently torn down to build something totally out of place in its stead.

The last flooding like this was about 30 years ago and Delray was still a sleepy little town. There were people canoeing and lots of air boats buzzing around the streets. Times change, Delray is growing and lots of architectural history has been replaced with high priced condos and/or upscale restaurants. There is still some of old Delray around, but it has lost its sleepy little town look and feel.
