As we were leaving Lox, my shooting buddy yelled stop the truck. Sand Hill Cranes. She got the best shots while we were in the truck (up higher). Mine are from the road.
I went to Costco this morning. On my way home I pass Delray Oaks Natural Area (https://www.visitdelraybeach.org/plays/delray-oaks-natural-area/). All the time I've been in there, I never saw anything. As I was driving past, I saw this Gopher Tortoise walking the fence line. Made a U-turn and parked. It wasn't afraid of me.
Looks a lot like the landscape at the Francis Biedler Forest near us. It is a tupelo, cypress swamp with several miles of boardwalk that allow visitors to view and photograph with minimal impact to the wildlife. Some days there is a fair amount of wildlife activity, and others, not so much. Still, it's a great place to go and watch as well as take pictures.
