I know of one happy camper when Saturday rolls around and Wako reopens!
I spoke with one of the workers working on the gate. He didn't think they would be finished before Sunday, so it's doubtful Wako will be open tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that Marilynne....but one more day isn't bad....
One time Wako was supposed to be closed for ten days, wound up being three weeks. I don't trust them.

Yes, but I got a fix today. I was planning on going to Green Cay so I had the D7100/Tamzooka with me when we went to lunch. After lunch the dark clouds moved in so we came home. There was a bit of sunshine so we went to see the progress on the gate at Wako. I either bring the D5100/18-200mm or the AW110 with me. Second gate was installed and they were testing it out. Met the guy in charge of Wako and he told me it would be open tomorrow even though the gate and security cameras won't be working. When they took down the closed sign I asked if I could go in and got an okay.
Felt strange, I was the only one in there. Chris came in, but left when I got to the first gazebo. There were Wood Storks and lots of white poo all along the rails. Hope I got some good shots of them taking off. Got to see some baby Wood Storks, one gator and missed the shot of the GBH's mating (they finished before I got close enough). Not enough lens for the Belted Kingfisher or the Black Necked Stilts, but hopefully they'll be back.
So watch this thread and others for my first trip back to Wako.
