Around here, we call them stink bugs. My dad used to say the came from Asia in fruit and vegetable shipments and they liked it here so they stayed.

Probably eastern leaf-footedbug,,the juv nightheron looks like yellow crowned to me, bill is a bit broader , lower mandible less yellow , and the whitish wing spots are shorter n smaller

No, it's black crowned. Seen it with mom/dad.

Thats a bird you'd get alerted about? I thought the requirements for the unusualness were higher. Some birds I think of as fairly rare to see here dont rank very high. They have that thing where it rates the birds for your area in terms of what percentage of checklists it appears on ,, but that isnt really what I would use to rank them. Did you make a comprehensive list of the ones you wanted to be alerted to?Only saw one Yellow Crowned Night Heron at Wako about four years ago. Also haven't seen any e-bird alerts for the yellow in my area.
