We were on our way to meet Chris' daughter for supper when I stopped at a stop sign. I couldn't believe this Red Shouldered Hawk was sitting on top of it. Before I could get my camera out of the bag, it took off and landed on the light pole.

best guess is this is a Coopers hawk, maybe a Sharp shinned, I sill have trouble with these two.

I'm not good with hawks either, but it doesn't have the black cap that I see in my Sibley book for Coopers and Sharp Shinned.
