@Marcel, I am really impressed with the images you produce with the df. While my D7000 produces 16 megapixels the same number as the df, how much better of an image do you feel the fx sensor on your camera produces compared to the dx sensor in my camera? If both camera were to shoot the same scene with exactly the same settings and similar focal lengths, what would you expect would be the difference in resolution to be?

Probably the exact same resolution BUT, the Df has less noise in higher ISOs. All my monks images were done at 3200 iso. I probably could have gotten a similar result with the D7000 but at 1600 iso.

3 flower pictures.
First one is just to show how little DOF I get with the 105 macro.

The Df and your skill in handling it continues to impress......
If you look at the exif numbers for these, you'll see a very slow shutter speed. All were done hand held but I have to admit that the silent mode really helps with slower shutter speeds. Wether the D600, 610,, 7000, or other that has the quiet mode, you can really improve your chances of a clean shot if you use the Quiet mode.

Everyone of these photo shot with your df Marcel makes me lust after that camera more and more. Are you a secret Nikon pitchman for that model? Not that I don't think you could pick up any Nikon body and create great images with it. But the df seems to suit you.

Thanks for your nice compliments Ron, but no, I'm in no way a Nikon pitchman for the Df. It's just that I had the occasion to exchange my D600 for a lightly used Df through Kijiji (canadian version of Craig's list).

The first time I held the Df in the store when it came out, I thought I would never get it. The sensor's quality (or supposed quality) is what got me interested. I thought for my use 16 Mp were just fine. The shutter in Quiet mode is really silent and in normal mode doesn't induce as much mirror vibration than the D600 or D7000.

But, as you've probably experienced too, Nikon Acquisition Syndrome is watching all of us at all time. As much as I keep fighting against buying things that I don't need but just want, it keeps bugging me until I drop the money and fill my wants... And Nikon is in business to make money and they know this as well, so they come out with newer shinier models every once a while and they finally get to me. Right now, I'm thinking D750 or D810, so go figure. But every now and then when I use my D700 I'm just amazed at the results I get with it and the handling of this camera. And 12 Mp is more than enough for my needs. So I'm trying to use what I have and not shopping on the web for a new camera. After all, a camera is just a tool to make pictures, and even if I'd have all of them, it wouldn't be good if I just stay home and look at them and pixel peek on my computer. I just try to go out with them and shoot as much as I can.

Excellent sentiments Marcel, I too struggle against the syndrome even though my D7000 is probably more than enough camera for me but am struggling to limit my wants to better glass and hold on to my camera body until it , or I, die of old age. And yet the other day there was an ad pop up on my computer for a D3S, oh my-------- and the beat goes on. So let's just keep shooting.
