I didnt have the export problem as i couldn't work out how to get one image in,a folder full yes but one image no,may come back to it at some point but not at the moment.

Okay, I reinstalled ACDSee Pro 8 and it seems to be working well. I'm having a good time going back through all my picture folders and adding some key words. I'm impressed that it can decode NEF RAW files from my D800, the D600, and even ARW raws from the Sony RX100. In fact, the Sony RAW files open up looking the same as the Sony JPEGS from the same shots, whereas ACR opens those same files and they are totally flat and dull in terms of color compared to the Sony JPEGS.

LR and PS are the tools of my trade. I cannot imagine being without either on a daily basis. I have been using both for so long I can't imagine processing my work any other way. My wife was just telling me the other day that if anyone knew how much I study, how much I try to learn new techniques, they would never even start photography. I love learning, I study new techniques every evening, have done it that way for years. I write down what I find useful on 3 X 5 cards and organize the cards so I can find the technique/procedure later when needed. One or two youtube videos everyday and after a year you will be amazed at what you can do. Without my LR/PS combo it's not just about workflow, it's about doing things that in my opinion are just not possible with any other software package. There are also other forums dedicated to Photoshop, they all have tutorials and videos to teach. If you are serious about photography it's a must learn, if you are not willing to put in the long term time to develop your skills you are just plan stuck where you are. There is no magic slider that will take a raw image to perfection, just more complicated than that. Just my 2 cents.

I love PS and ACR. My beef with LR is that it doesn't seem intuitive as a file management tool. I would not use LR to edit photos because I prefer to do that in ACR plus PS. This ACDSee Pro 8 that was recommended looks like LR in some ways, but file management is much easier (haven't tried importing new photos with it).

Been using LR extensively the last couple of weeks while on my great photographic adventure to the national parks out west. The more I use it the more I like it. I have been a hard core Photoshop user for many years and thought I had no need to LR. Boy was I wrong. Photoshop is a fantastic tool and I do still use it but as anyone who uses it will tell you there is a steep learning curve to get truly good with it. LR is the same. You have to work with it and study it to get good with it and learn all that it offers. Glad I made the switch.

I am faster with certain things like lens correction in LR, I still get situations where I need to use the transform etc in PS but seldom, one other thing is the brushes in LR are not cumulative, the level is controlled by the sliders and makes no difference how many times you brush over an area unlike PS. Backgrounds, layers, levels, masking and blending I still do a lot in PS, like them both.

Went through my first vacation stop in Lightroom today. First made sure they were all tagged with at least the main keyword (Zion) Then went through and made a quick decision on which ones were good by giving them from 1 to 5 stars. This took a little while but was kind of nice to see all of them without stopping to work on them. Took the one stars and double checked them to make sure there was nothing there and then deleted them. The next step was to actually work on the 5 star shots. Processed them and exported them to disk ready for the next step. The thing I had problems with (or thought I would later) was in the second round etc how would I know which ones I had already processed. I finally came up with just flagging them which can be done by clicking the flag on the photo. Pretty simple and quick. I think I like my system. Time will tell. Now I have to decide if I want to load them to albums in Facebook or in albums on my website and just giving the link on Facebook.

I am thinking of making each park a slideshow so you can just sit back and watch it or stop it if you want a better look. Does this work for people or just a standard album?

What ever is easier for you. If you ask me, I would like the ability to stop an image to admire it. (pixel peep)
