Looking for a water resistant, F mount wide angle lens

I'm looking for a wide angle lens that is semi water resistant(can withstand a decent amount of rain) for my D7000. I don't care if it's a DX or FX lens, and I don't think I have an aperture preference. I am also not opposed to 3rd parties:)

I was looking at the Tokina 11-16 2.8 but I don't think it's water resistant :////

I don't know of any lens, or lens maker, that calls their lens "water resistant"; they'll probably use wording like, "weather sealing"; and it's not a guarantee.

That being said, what's your budget for this lens? Do you want a prime or a zoom? I could suggest the Nikon Nikon 24mm f/1.4G ED, for example, but it's a $2,000 lens.

Id like to keep it below $600 if possible, and I'm not sure if I want a prime or a zoom, I'd be open to either. But 24mm on a DX body is too long for me

I don't think I have heard of a weather sealed lens that isn't over $1000.00. I only have one weather sealed lens, the Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 lens. It cost around $1400.00 even for grey market version.

"Weather sealing" is merely a rubber gasket attached to the lens mount to help prevent the migration of water between the lens and body. Nothing more.

I have the Tokina 11-16 for my D7100 and I love it. That and but a rain sleeve.

I just spotted a used nikkor 16-35mm which I believe is weather sealed for about $800, but it is full frame, so it wouldn't be very wide angle for your DX Nikon. I was just surprised to see a couple of this lens below a $1000. Maybe it runs cheaper than I thought.lol :)

But the Tokina 11-16mm is a much better ultra wide angle lens for a DX nikon anyway.:)

You haven't even said what your wide angle requirement is, on a dx body that does make a difference, no lens is waterproof, better off to get the lens you need and protect it as needed.

I just bought the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 EX DC this week. I have only been able to use it a bit but what I have done with it so far I like. It to is under $500 and I liked the fixed f3.5
