Looking for a cheap tripod

What exactly are you calling "cheap"? Cheap for me may not be cheap for you. If you are looking for a reasonably light weight and reasonably priced tripod but very capable tripod, why not look into a Slik U212. I would caution you against going really cheap because if it is flimsy you have wasted your money. I have had the same U212 for over 30 years now and it has been all around the world in every environment imaginable and it is still going strong. It is an outstanding "field" tripod. It will support my 12 pound 600mm f/4 Nikkor MONSTER just fine. You can find them on Fleabay for around a C-note or maybe a little less.

Promaster seems to have value too,, I just bought
[h=1]Promaster C423W Carbon Fiber Tripod[/h]
for 99 dollars,, and it looks great. course you have to buy a tripod head too, which cost 70 dollars, so,,

I bought an extremely cheap Polaroid tripod off eBay. I know you get what you pay for in life but generally I tend to buy stuff at once that I may need and then slowly upgrade. Think it cost me £20 inc postage (!!) but it is extremely flimsy and poorly made. I'm sure it will break within months but hopefully will last a little longer as will only have light use
