Lightroom: Which manual adjustments are equivalent to 'camera standard' profile?

I ask because: In the camera calibration section, the camera profile for Nikon that i like the best is 'camera standard'. However, i often feel it's too strong. Therefore i would prefer to start with 'Adobe standard' and use adjustments to get me near to 'camera standard' but ones where i can 'back off' a bit if i feel they are too strong.

Does that make sense?

Maybe other users have come across or made their own settings too?

Any thoughts appreciated.

ps i use a Nikon d3100 and LR4

Paul... Under the Develop Tab, at the bottom on the right hand adjustments, under Camera Calibration, there are several pre-sets... try those...

Another option is to create your own pre-set and save it, and then as part of your Import process, you can tell LR to apply the pre-set upon import...

Hi Fred

Yes, i'm aware of the presets there, but was wondering if it was possible to start off in 'adobe standard' and roughly emulate the 'camera standard' preset with manual adjustments (whilst still using adobe standard). Obviously contrast is one such adjustment that needs consideration.

Maybe even starting off in 'camera neutral' too

You can start off in anything you want... make whatever adjustments you want, and then save that as a new preset... then right click the preset and one of the options is "Apply this preset on Import"... Maybe setup a test shot... and make the adjustments you want... and save it as a test1 preset... and then test some imports to see if the test-adjustments are what you want to apply to a range of different photos...

Another method would be to create a series of presets with minor adjustments and let LR import the Standard... and then simply apply the pre-defined presets one at a time until you get what you want...

Paul... Here's a short article about the process we've been discussing...

How to Get Accurate Nikon Colors in Lightroom

Hi Fred

Yes, up until now i have always used 'camera standard' in the calibration/profile section. I was thinking that 'camera standard' often seems to strong to me, i.e too much contrast etc. That's why i had the idea of starting off in 'adobe standard' or 'camera neutral' and then working my way up manually towards where 'camera standard' would of starting me off at, but with the difference of being able to 'back off' on any of those adjustments if i felt they were again too strong.

So my original question remains, and is something like this: Which adjustments should be considered if i wanted to manunally go from 'adobe standard' (or 'camera neutral) to somewhere near to 'camera standard', i.e via adjustments in the 'basics panel' or curves etc. This would be instead of choosing 'camera standard' as a profile. Contrast is obviously the biggie. Maybe there's other adjustments that others have noticed too i.e vibrancy, clarity etc etc.

I think it would be great if there was a list of the differences between the picture controls, i.e which had more (or less) of which adjustments etc.
