hi all, i am trying to decide between adobe lightroom or elements for photo editing software. i have read quite a bit about both and if i am correct lightroom doesnt have the editing abilities that elements has but its better at organizing your files. anyone have suggestions? i am really new to digital photography and would like the software to be fairly simple to learn. thanks all.

so i should consider getting both and start my editing process with lightroom then if i feel i need more editing use elements?

I think that would be the perfect combination. LR is the best processing software for photographers but it cannot do things like panoramas and HDR, which Elements, in addition to pixel editing and layer masking, can do (at least I think it can do. Photoshop certainly does and I'm 99% sure Elements will also)

My opinion only... Others may disagree.
lightroom is extreemly powerful for most of your basic editing (cropping, lighting contrast, color etc.). It's also an incredible organizer. From it you can link to Photoshop or Elements for more extensive edits. The nice thing is that any lightroom change you make can be immediately undone. It never alters the original file.

ok i think i am sold on getting both lightroom 4 and elements 11. my next question is i think i had read that adobe lets you install their programs on a desktop and laptop with out additional licenses, does anyone know if this is true?

The way I understand it, Photoshop or Elements can be installed on two systems as long as they share the same platform. i.e. Windows/Windows, or Mac/Mac... You can't install it on one Windows Platform and one MAC. Lightroom, however does not have this restriction.
Been a while since I saw that but I'll look again. (no promises though)
