Lightroom 6 Teaser - Content Aware in LR

I don't remember seeing this, so my apologies if it's been posted, but I came across this today and thought I'd share.

Adobe Lightroom 6 rumors | Photo Rumors

For anyone considering Lightroom, the ability to do content aware fill processing like you can in Photoshop makes this tool even more powerful, and takes away the main reason 1/2 the people who say they "need" PS actually need it. LR is the one product in the Cloud that Adobe has committed to offering as a stand-alone offer, so if this is right and a free Beta version is announced early next year I suggest you jump all over it.

I just hope they come out with another LR 5 update soon. Processing my D750 images as DNG's is getting maddening (and before anyone asks, Tiffs would be no different).

Content aware fill and replacement is a huge reason I duck over to PS for sure, but until they add the ability to add/delete/manipulate layers, I certainly won't get away from PS any time soon. Guess I'm glad I have them both in my CC bundle. ;)

The way it's advertised, I'll have the LR upgrade instantly, and can't wait to see what they really do with it! If the predicted tool is of comparable IQ with the PS tool, it'll save a lot of hopping to be sure!

Yes, I could use LR and learn to live without Unsharp Mask, Masks & Layers and Blend modes, sure, but seriously...

Would you really WANT to?? I know I wouldn't.

I thought I read in the rumor that LR6 will likely be a paid subscription program.

It is now, but from what I remember when they announced the Creative Cloud they said they were committed to keeping LR available as a standalone program as well. Would be a shame to have them go back on that with the first new version.

I love content aware in PS, but for me, unsharp mask is the bees knees.

Funny, but I find I can get similar results with the Unsharp slider in Lightroom. That said, sharpening is the one thing in LR that becomes overly complicated without PS to help. That said, there is a great tutorial on Sharpening at Lynda.com that goes through some cool ways to do it properly in Lightroom.

I do like lightroom. once you get the hang of it, its very easy to edited your images, I have tried photoshop and elements,
But carried on using lightroom 5.6

I used to go PS for sharpening but since I'm using the brush to locally sharpen or blur what needs to be done, I have little need for anything but LR. I still miss layers although even that can be overcome by using multiple filters or brushes. But it becomes processor demanding rapidly.
