Very simple to do - camera on tripod, somewhat around my settings and then a flash light "drawing" slowly on the subject. Its pretty much straight out of camera, a little less red and a stroke with dodge tool.

Here's one I did in 2006 with a yellowish light...My first attempt...
Thanks...D50....Aperture F6.3....Shutter 30 sec exposure....Focal length 28mm..Time was 8.42 pm
The light use is called a Dolphin light...It casts a yellowish light....
A friend of mine does similar type things to this with film...He does the light painting then adds the moon after if he cant get it in the shot...

Excellent photo, to get the moon bigger you would have to put on a 400mm lens and walk around 2km's (or further) towards the moon lol
