Light painting

My first shot with light painting. This photo isn't very good, too much noise and stuff. I was also only using a not very good household flashlight and didn't have a remote for my camera.

I was wondering if anyone could just throw out any tips and tricks to get good photos and to eliminate noise

Thnx

If you are getting noise then this would indicate that you have your ISO set too high. Light painting is not like normal night time photography as the lights can be very bright. So stick with ISO 100 and begin with an aperture of f11 and you can adjust this as necessary. Using BULB mode with a remote also helps.

Use Live view to focus. Zoom in on Live View and manual focus for sharpness.
ISO 100 as mentioned F11. Get some wire wool and a whisk and a piece of string. Put the wire wool in the head of the whisk, attach string to whisk and hold at the end of the string.

Camera on tripod and focused as above, 30 second exposure, light wire wool on fire, spin as fast as you can in circles of your choice.

Back to camera, review image and congratulate yourself.:D

One more thing my peeps. What kind of lighting should you shoot in. Like a pitch black room or that inbetween daytime and night time area

Any kind of light that you can create good images. Black is harder as all you see is your imagination but get some late ambient light and it rocks....192OverheadBurn.jpgDSC_4174.jpg
