Congrats on your anniversary! I'm sorta looking for a small tripod myself, but maybe a table top version might work for me! :)
Hey if your willing to risk your camera and lens, then a tripod like you have can work awesome barring the unforseen! But I agree with you they should have a much better version of your compact tripod out there somewhere! Great for indoors, getting that quick shot and putting it away without a fuss in a pocket! :)

If the tripod is precarious, imagine balancing your camera on a rock or wooden fence with the camera on self timer to get yourself in a nature shot, because you don't have a tripod with you... maybe because carrying one was too much trouble!?! How many people have watched their camera fall off of a risky prop while waiting for the shutter to release?
