The question is a bit ambiguous and very different answers resulted from that confusion as to what you are trying to accomplish.
Are you needing a lens that can capture an entire building and then also zoom in to get the detail?
Or are you trying to get small detail on buildings
Or are you wanting to capture interested in one with high enough resolving power to be able to crop different detail images from one frame of the whole or partial building shot?
Are you talking about getting to image optimized image, one being of the entire building and another from a closer vantage point of detail?
Can you post a pair of images that did not work out using whatever process you are using to get the building plus the detail? That way you will be a meaningful answer to what you mean instead of what you wrote.
