Lens repairs?

Hey all! I've got a 70-300mm that has a "sticking" problem with autofocus at certain focal ranges. I'm going to try and get it repaired but not sure what to expect. Anyone have experience repairing the AF system in lenses like these? Would love some perspective while I go get a few quotes as I have no clue what to expect $$$ wise. :cower:

It's akin to repairing the old VCR/DVD/ETC. Cost of repair vs replacement vs learning to enjoy manual focus. :D

Never had one repaired, but if it's just lubrication and freeing movement could be cheap. If it's replacing the focus motor than I imagine it could be cost prohibitive. But Im just guessing.

As upsetting as it is we live in a throw away world now, unless its an expensive lens i think you will find the repair cost may be close to replacement costs, which 70-300 is it.
