Lens for D5200 ?

Last question...comparing D5200 and D5100 - do you think the extra 8MPs are worth spending that money ? Based on my knowledge and research it seems like the extra megapixels are only good for cropping images but 16MPs are more than enough.
Well it's not just 8MP you're getting with the 5D200 over the D5100. The D5200 also has a lot more focus points (39 vs 11) than the D5100, more cross-type focus points (9 vs 1), a little bit better color depth, shoots a little faster in continuous-mode, and has a slightly better dynamic range. So there are several improvements of varying importance I'd say, between the two.

If your budget is $200 or less your options are going to be very limited because good glass is not cheap. The Nikon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 would be a good place to start. That lens sells for about $250 new, refurbs are less of course and should not be difficult to find. Also in the $200 range would be either Nikon's 35mm f/1.8G or Nikon's 50mm f/1.8G prime lenses.
....

He could get a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm for just a little over $200 if he shops refurb. Cameta has both available. the 18-55mm is $99, and the 55-200mm is $119. I believe both would come with a 1 year warranty. That range should cover pretty much anything that he might ever want to shoot albeit at lesser quality than spending more for better glass.

18-55mm ==> Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens - Factory Refurbished includes Full 1 Year Warranty
55-200mm ==> Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G DX AF-S ED Zoom-Nikkor Lens - Factory Refurbished includes Full 1 Year Warranty

The gadgets that I was taking about that I'm planning to shoot are, smartphones, tablets, tech stuff etc (mostly videos).

So I need lens good for that plus something good for outdoor which I can use for taking personal pictures.

The problem with that, we can recommend full on professional stuff that will cost you 4 arms and 5 legs down to the kit lens groups. What you end up with really depends on your budget and what you think you will need. I think a body and a 18-105 or 18-140 will be a good starting point and will help you figure out what other lenses will fit your needs.

Based on what you need, get the 18-140. In my opinion, it's your best option. Remember this important fact of photography: there is no one-lens-does-it-all. Read the manual your camera came with....lots of good information in there for new photographers. Check out You Tube videos on subjects you're interested in. Asking questions is one thing; asking how to operate your camera is YOUR responsibility! :)
What part of the planet do you live in? I don't see that in your profile. It helps us answer some of your questions, such as camera and lens prices, which differ all over the world.

1) How is Tamron 18-270mm F3.5 as compared to 18-105 or 18-140 ? Is 18-270 better ?

2) Which is better AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1.8G OR 50mm F1.8 ? Also..is 50mm F1.8 also a prime lens ?
