Lens conundrum

I have also listed my AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm G ED DX lens for sale. I think I am going to get either an 18-105mm VR lens or maybe get the 18-135mm lens and also sell my older AF Nikkor 35-105mm. I sure like that older lens though. I may keep it anyway.

And I changed my mind again. My 18-55mm ED lens will sell and I have listed my AF Nikkor 35-105mm "D" lens that I really like.

And I purchased the AF Nikkor Nikkor 24-120mm "D" lens instead of the 18-105mm. I know the 24-120mm will not be that wide on my D90 but I may be purchasing an FX camera next year.

I really don't use the wide angle much. When I do one day get to that focal length I want to get something in the really wide range.

So, the 70-300mm VR lens should arrive tomorrow, according to the tracking data, and I will have two new lenses to use. The 70-300mm VR and the 24-120mm AF-D lens.

Awesome! I'll be looking forward to hearing how well you like the 70-300mm and to see some shots you get with it! :D

Well my "conundrum" should be over for a while now.

As you all know I have the Nikon 70-300mm ED VR lens, the Nikon AF Nikkor 24-120mm will arrive tomorrow and I just made payment on a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm G ED IF lens. Supposedly its a very nice sharp lens. It should arrive by Tuesday I guess.

No more basic lenses for me. The next lens I buy will be something 200 to 400mm in length, sharp and fast. That may take a while!

Sorry I didn't get to read your post or knew your intention a little earlier but the earlier generations of the Nikon 24-120mm are horrible IMO. Better off with the f4 VR II version. You might have a decent copy. Your mileage may vary.

Yes, there seems to be two camps on it. Some love it and others hated it. I got it rather cheap, compared to the AF-S version, so if it doesn't perform I can just sell it and get something else.
