Lens compatibility

I have just found my old nikon em with a 50mm 1.8 E series lens. Is it possible to use this lens on a new D800 or will it cause damage?

Usable Lenses are-- AF-D, AI-P, AF-I, AI-S and AF-S Lenses for the above Camera.

Apparently it is an AI-S lens and is compatible with the D800 (as a Non-CPU lens, D800 manual page 212).
